Kinder Morgan Completes First Of Three Large Natural Gas Pipelines

Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P. announced that the 133-mile Kinder Morgan Louisiana Pipeline project has been completed and commenced service on June 21. The 42-inch diameter line will transport natural gas to multiple pipelines from the Cheniere Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, LA. All of the 3.2 Bcf/d of capacity on the pipeline is subscribed by Chevron and Total under 20-year contracts.

“We are delighted that the Kinder Morgan Louisiana Pipeline is now in service,” said Steve Kean, president of Kinder Morgan’s Natural Gas Pipeline group. “This is the first of three large natural gas pipeline projects that we expect to complete this year.” He noted that the final leg of Midcontinent Express Pipeline is expected to be in service by August 1 and that the final leg of Rockies Express Pipeline is expected to be in service by November 1.
