Fast Fusion Speeds Gas Pipeline Construction

Pacific Tank & Pipeline recently installed a 16-mile, 16-inch diameter gas pipeline and two 12-inch diameter gas pipelines in Wagner, OK for Houston-based Coronado Energy E&P Company, L.L.C.
The HDPE DR9 pipe used to construct all three pipelines was supplied from ISCO Industries’ plant in Pryor, OK.
Also under the contract, Pacific Tank & Pipeline was charged with completing more than 40 directional bores to accommodate area creeks and environment wetlands.
According to  Pacific Tank, the job posed a number of challenges. Crews had to deal with one of the wettest years on record for rainfall in Oklahoma, which resulted in the job being shutdown on a number of occasions when crews were unable to get to the jobsite.
Despite the challenges, Pacific Tank & Pipeline and ISCO successfully completed the project on time and on budget.
Pacific Tank credits much of the project’s success to the use of two Fast Fusion machines, purchased from Fast Fusion LLC, and specialized stringing equipment which expedited pipe handling on the project.
With the enclosed cabs on the Fast Fusion machines, the pipe was able to be fused despite the inclement weather, something that the company says would have been extremely difficult with conventional fusion equipment.
