ESOP Construction Moves Ahead

Transneft has said that the first 1,677 miles of its East Siberia Oil Pipeline (ESOP) will come online by December 25, 2009.
According to the company, 83% of the pipeline has been laid for the 600,000 bpd link, and other pipeline infrastructure such as terminals and pumping stations are 65% complete.
The ESPO will run from Taishet in East Siberia to Skovorodino in the Amur Region near the border with China. The project’s second stage will extend a further 1,304 miles from Skovorodino to the port of Kozmino.
Altogether, the pipeline is designed to transport as much as 220.5 MMbbl/a of oil to Skovorodino, while the entire combined project will transport up to 367.5 MMbbl/a of oil.
