Energy Transfer Partners Begins Tiger Pipeline Construction

Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) and Chesapeake Energy have awarded contracts to Henkels & McCoy and Michels Corporation for the 175-mile Tiger Pipeline. Henkels & McCoy’s work calls for construction of 51.5 miles and 26.4 miles of pipeline on Spread 2; Michels work involves 57.7 miles and 39.3 miles of construction on Spread 4.  Pre-construction inspection and flagging of the construction right-of-way has reportedly begun.
  The 42-inch interstate natural gas pipeline will have a capacity of 2 Bcf/d of gas and connect to ETP’s dual 42-inch pipeline system near Carthage, TX which will serve the Haynesville Shale and Bossier Sands producing regions in Louisiana and East Texas. Tiger Pipeline will have interconnects with seven major interstate pipelines that serve the Northeast, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest markets.
  Through planned expansions announced in February and subject to FERC approval, the ultimate capacity of the Tiger Pipeline is expected to be 2.4 Bcf/d, which is sold out under long-term contracts ranging from 10-15 years. The pipeline is expected to be in service the first half of 2011 and the 0.4 Bcf/d expansion in the second half of 2011.
