Energy Transfer Adds Critical Capacity Out Of Barnett Shale

Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. has completed the 31-mile Southern Shale pipeline and the 20-mile Cleburne to Tolar pipeline.  The two natural gas pipelines will provide an additional 1.1 Bcf/d of critical capacity from the Barnett Shale natural gas field in North Central Texas, boosting the Partnership’s capacity out of the Shale to 4.6 Bcf/d.  ETP is the largest transporter of natural gas out of the Barnett Shale.
  The 36-inch Southern Shale pipeline originates in southern Tarrant County and provides 700 MMcf/d of takeaway capacity.  The Southern Shale transports natural gas to the Partnership’s Maypearl compressor station, which delivers gas to ETP’s extensive pipeline infrastructure.   ETP’s pipeline system offers producers and shippers access to multiple markets, including major city gates, trading hubs, and electric power plants throughout Texas as well as providing access to interstate pipeline systems serving our country’s energy needs. 
  The 36-inch Cleburne to Tolar pipeline originates in the western region of the Barnett Shale play and connects to ETP’s Cleburne compression station.  This station delivers gas to the Partnership’s pipeline system including direct interconnects to ETP’s 42-inch Cleburne to Carthage pipeline and its North Texas 36-inch pipeline.  This pipeline provides 400 MMcf/d of capacity from the Barnett Shale.
  “The completion of the Southern Shale and Cleburne to Tolar pipelines marks our sixth and seventh large diameter pipelines completed in the last year during which we added more than 400 miles of 36-inch and 42-inch diameter pipe and nearly 4.0 Bcf/d of takeaway capacity,” said Roy Patton, senior vice president of Commercial Operations. “As we move into 2009, we look forward to continuing to enhance our infrastructure to meet the needs of natural gas producers and consumers across Texas and the nation.”
