Enbridge Northern’s 730-Mile Twin Pipelines Under Review

With the filing of the Northern Gateway Pipeline project application by Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipelines, Canada’s Joint Review Panel will review the project under both the national Energy Board Act and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.
The proposed project involves construction of two pipelines and construction and operation of the Kitimat Marine Terminal. The two pipelines are each 1,170 km in length, from Bruderheim, Alberta to Kitimat, British Columbia. One 36-inch outside diameter line would carry on average 525,000 bpd of petroleum products west to Kitimat. The other line, a 20-inch outside diameter pipeline, would carry on average 193,000 bpd of condensate east to Bruderheim.
