CNPC Starts Pipeline Work In Myanmar

China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) has begun building gas and oil pipelines through Myanmar. The lines will cut delivery time for crude from the Middle East and Africa that previously arrived by ship and traveled the congested Malacca Strait.
  A 683-mile pipeline, capable of delivering 400,000 bpd of crude will run from Myanmar’s Rakhine state to China’s southwestern Yunnan province. Meanwhile, a 1,750-mile pipeline with an annual transportation capacity of 12 Bcm will begin moving natural gas to Kunming, capital of Yunnan province in 2012.
