CNPC To Expand Gas Distribution Network By 2015

China National Petroleum Corp. plans to nearly double the size of its natural gas distribution network by 2015, on expectations the country’s demand will remain strong.
  CNPC’s plans call for the construction of 13,050 miles of new gas pipelines.
The company is building the second West-to-East gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China’s Guangdong.   Work on the eastern section of the line began at Luoyang in Henan, Suizhou in Hubei, Jiujiang in Jiangxi, and Guangzhou in Guangdong, respectively.
  CNPC said that once the Second West East gas pipeline becomes operational the share of natural gas in China’s primary energy consumption  will probably increase by 1–2%.
  The 4,970-mile pipeline is expected to be completed next year and will have a capacity of 30 Bcm/a. 
  The first West-to-East pipeline, which is some 2,485 miles long, transports gas from Xinjiang to Shanghai at a rate of over 10 Bcm/a.
